Your wedding day is about bringing together the people you love most—and we believe everyone should have the opportunity to be part of it. We know that choosing a mountain wedding venue can raise some very practical questions.

What about Grandma and Grandpa? What if someone uses a wheelchair? What if a guest has trouble walking uphill? What if someone gets tired during the celebration?

Nantahala is a beautiful, remote mountain destination, and we understand that getting here and navigating a mountain property can require a little more planning for some of your guests. That’s why we’ve worked hard to make Nantahala as welcoming and accessible as possible—not only for guests with disabilities, but also for grandparents, older family members, guests recovering from surgery, people with mobility limitations, and anyone who simply needs a little extra help getting around. You don’t have to choose between a beautiful mountain wedding and having the people you love there. With a little planning, we can help make Nantahala work for your family.

Getting Here
For guests traveling from out of town, Always on Time Shuttle Service provides transportation between the airport and Nantahala. The closest major airports are: Asheville, NC; Greenville-Spartanburg, SC; Chattanooga, TN; Knoxville, TN; and Atlanta, GA.

If several of your guests will be traveling together, arranging group transportation can make the journey considerably easier—and means your guests don’t have to navigate mountain roads themselves.

Choosing the Right Place to Stay

For guests who need the easiest possible access to the wedding festivities, Fie Top Suite is an especially good option. Included with our multi-day wedding packages, Fie Top is located right next to the Reception Pavilion, so guests staying there are right next to the celebration. The ground-floor bedroom is fully wheelchair accessible and includes:

• A queen-size bed
• A queen-size sleeper sofa, which can accommodate an accompanying caregiver or family member
• An ADA-compliant bathroom
• A roll-in shower with an integrated seat
• Grab bars for additional stability

For guests who prefer to stay off-property, the Quality Inn in Andrews , just 12 miles from the venue, offers a number of accessible rooms and can be a good option for families traveling with several guests who have mobility needs.

You Don’t Have to Walk to the Chapel

One of the most beautiful parts of a Nantahala wedding is saying your vows at Chapel in the Sky. But we don’t expect every guest to make the mountain journey on foot. Before the ceremony, our 4WD vehicle can transport guests from the parking area or Fie Top Suite directly to the Chapel in the Sky. After the ceremony, we bring guests back down to the Reception Pavilion. We also provide transportation to our Covered Chapel when needed. If walking the mountain isn’t comfortable for someone you love, they don’t have to do it.

• Accessible Paths & Facilities – We’ve designed the property with accessibility and ease of movement in mind. 
• Ramp to Fie Top Suite dining room and bridal salon.
• Accessible Parking – Accessible parking spaces are available for cars and vans near the entrances to our buildings.
• Accessible Routes – Our primary buildings and communal areas are connected by firm, stable pathways, are designed to make navigating the property easier.
• Accessible Restrooms – Our reception bathrooms are fully ADA-compliant, with an accessible concrete pathway connecting them to the Reception Pavilion.
• Accessible Lodging – Fie Top Suite includes a fully accessible ground-floor bedroom and bathroom with a roll-in shower, integrated seat, and grab bars.
• Accessible Ceremony Viewing – Our ceremony areas provide stable surfaces and designated wheelchair-accessible viewing areas so guests can enjoy the ceremony without obstruction.

What If Someone Gets Tired?

This is a wedding—not an endurance event. Your guests should feel free to enjoy as much of the celebration as they comfortably can. If someone staying at Fie Top Suite wants to leave the reception early, we can drive them back to the suite. If you’ve arranged transportation with Always on Time Shuttle Service, guests staying at the lake or at the Quality Inn can arrange to be taken back to their lodging when they’re ready.

And if someone simply needs a quiet place to sit down, rest, or take a break from the festivities, Fie Top Suite provides a convenient place to step away for a while and return to the celebration later.

A Little Extra Help Goes a Long Way
We have hosted hundreds of celebrations, and we’ve learned that the key to making a mountain wedding comfortable for everyone is simply thinking ahead. If you have a parent, grandparent, or other loved one with specific mobility or travel concerns, please tell us about them before you book. We’ll be happy to talk through the property with you and help you determine:

• How to make sure they can participate without becoming exhausted
