May 2024: A Mountain Love Story, From Backyard Vows to a Dream Wedding at Nantahala
Like any classic love story of the modern age, we met on a dating app. In 2022, both of us were moving to the Fayetteville area for work when we matched—and the rest, as they say, is history.
Chelsey is an Air-Systems Technician Warrant Officer, and as our wedding day approached, she was deployed to support Gaza Humanitarian Aid missions. At one point, we weren’t even sure she’d make it to the wedding, let alone pre-wedding appointments. Thankfully, Julie Moore Alterations saved the day. She accommodated us on a Saturday and even completed the alterations on the spot!
We had already tied the knot in a backyard ceremony, but it was important to us to have a wedding that brought our families together. That’s why Nantahala Weddings & Events was the perfect choice for our celebration.
Why We Chose Nantahala
Beyond the stunning views at the Chapel in the Sky, Nantahala offered something we couldn’t resist: the chance to bring everyone together for an extended stay. With a four-day rental, we turned our wedding into an inaugural family reunion. It wasn’t just a party; it was a time for connection, memories, and adventure.
Making the Most of the Mountains
The days leading up to the wedding were filled with activities for everyone. The bridal party went white-water rafting, the dads spent their day fishing, and the moms sipped mimosas while relaxing. Nantahala provided the perfect blend of natural beauty and comfort, creating a space where everyone felt at ease.
My only regret is not having Judy and Len from Seeing Southern Photography there to capture the entire week’s worth of moments. Their incredible photography preserved our special day beautifully, but the week was filled with so much more we wish we could relive through their lens.
