Nantahala Weather in April

By April, temperatures in Nantahala are rapidly warming up, with highs in the low 70s and nighttime lows in the 40s or 50s. The mountains turn silvery green quickly, and wildflowers are blossoming.

Alex and Michael’s April 2022 Outdoor Destination Wedding in NC in the Smoky Mountains on Lake Nantahala

Alex and Michael hosted their whimsical North Carolina outdoor wedding just after the Smoky Mountains greened-in for the season in April. Fresh mountain air, idyllic weather, romance, and so much fun! Here is their sweet and wonderful love story in Alex’s own words.

How and where did you first meet?

Michael and I met on Hinge in May of 2019. We had a first date set up initially, but I couldn’t shut up about him in the meantime, so one night my friends secretly called him and gave him our location. He showed up and surprised me and we were immediately smitten!

At what point did you realize you were in love?

We both realized we were in love after a long, hot date at Carrowinds in the middle of July. He loved that I couldn’t stop laughing nervously after every rollercoaster, and I fell in love at the end of the day when he got into the sweltering hot car before anyone else to turn on the air. It gave major future-dad vibes!

What life goals and dreams do you share?

Our life goals include creating a big, beautiful family, traveling with our family as much as possible, and building a house with a big yard and a basketball hoop in the driveway.

What have you learned from each other?

I have learned the value of patience and going with the flow from Michael. He has learned the importance of empathy and compassion towards others from me.

What do you most look forward to in your life together?

We look forward to raising our future kids, traveling, and honestly anything this life has in store for us! We’re just so happy we have each other to spend every moment with.

Why did you choose Nantahala for your wedding?

We chose Nantahala because any time we explored the area, we felt at peace. We wanted a venue that would bring calm in the middle of chaos and that’s exactly what Nantahala did our whole wedding weekend. It gave us our love of beautiful mountain and water views. And it also gave our family and friends a relaxing, peaceful weekend get-away! We couldn’t have chosen a better venue.
